The history of the Schnapperhof with Georg Unteregger has been documented in writing since 1738. The name “Schnapper” was a nickname that was given to one of the farm owners and then replaced an older farm name. It is a derivation of the verb snap, which means “to snap” or “to snatch”, or to speak quickly. Apparently the owner of the farm was called that because he spoke in a particularly striking way. In the course of time, this nickname has even become an officially fixed and hereditary family name.

Our farm, which has been owned by our family for many generations, is situated in the beautiful Antholz Valley in Oberrasen – surrounded by meadows, coniferous forests and high mountains. In the heart of the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park, at an altitude of 1,160 metres, the Schnapperhof offers an ideal starting point for a variety of activities.
We are a farm with 8 cows. We attach particular importance to the natural management of our farm and therefore do not use artificial fertilizers or pesticides.
The farm is located about 400m from our house and has also three hectares of meadows and pastures for grass and hay harvesting. From our 7 hectare forest we take the timber for house renovations and the firewood for heating our stoves.

In our garden, which is cultivated organically, you will find a garden full of tasty vegetables and herbs especially laid out for our guests. From spring to autumn you are welcome to use this vegetable and salad garden. At your disposal are also a table and chairs, deckchairs, ping-pong-table, barbecue and a playground for the kids.
For the little ones...
For the little guests our Schnapperhof in summer as well as in winter, has many entertainment options to offer. Children’s playground with slide in our garden, campfire, toboggan run, ice skating and much more.
Our farm is in an ideal position, both in summer and in winter: the bus stop is 20 metres away, the playground of Oberrasen and the cross-country ski run 100 metres from the Schnapperhof in winter. You can reach the Kronplatz ski area in 4 kilometres by car or by ski bus – a shuttle service of the municipality which can be used free of charge by our guests. You will find the next stop directly in front of the house.
In summer you can start numerous hikes from home without having to use your car. The cycle path is also right in front of our door. For all our guests arriving by public transport, we offer a shuttle service from the train station in Olang to the Schnapperhof. On request it is also possible to use the shuttle service for special hikes.
